What kind of wax do you use?
At our salon, we offer 3 different types of hard wax and 2 different types of soft wax. Each service provider chooses what Wax to use based on your personal hair and skin type.
Can I get waxed while on my period?
Yes. While you might be more sensitive during this time of the month, you can still wax.
Why remove hair with wax?
Waxing will make your skin feel softer, plus it lasts much longer than any other temporary hair removal method. People also wax because they feel it is more hygienic and that their hair grows back finer and sparser over time.
Does waxing hurt?
Yes, but pain from waxing goes away in seconds. Every person’s pain tolerance is different as well. I can tell you, however, that it does get much easier after the first time. If you are extra sensitive or about to get your period, please consider taking ibuprofen 45 minutes to an hour prior to your appointment.
What steps are taken to ensure proper hygiene?
I do not double dip my waxing sticks! Each stick is dipped into sterile wax and applied once to each client. It is then discarded. The rest of the equipment is cleaned and sterilized regularly to ensure complete hygiene throughout the salon.
How long should hair be before it gets waxed?
Max Wax WaxBar recommends at least ¼ inch or 3-4 weeks of growth, whichever makes the hair longer. The longer the hair, the better results you will see and the longer it will last.
How long does waxing typically last?
It differs from person to person, depending on how fast their hair usually grows. On average, waxing will last between 3-6 weeks depending on the area waxed. Remember, it will last longer the more you wax!
What if I am pregnant?
You can still get waxed if you are pregnant! In fact, many moms-to-be get a Brazilian bikini wax before giving birth. Please just let me know if you are in your second trimester or further along when you make your appointment. Then, we will schedule more time to ensure maximum comfort!
Are there age restrictions on waxing?
You must be 18 years old to wax, or have parental approval for services at Max Wax WaxBar.
When should I not get waxed?
You should not get waxed if you are in cancer therapy, receiving chemotherapy, or radiation treatment. If you are taking prescribed Accutane, Differin, Retin A, antibiotics, or any other medication that can cause sun sensitivity. It is also advised that you avoid waxing while using salicylic acids, glycolic acid, benzoyl peroxide, Obagi products, any harsh exfoliates, or any other facial peels. These types of products thin out your skin and will make you more sensitive to burning or peeling. Please wait 2-6 weeks before waxing, depending on how long you have been on the medication. It is imperative that the medications are out of your system to ensure reactions do not occur. If you are unsure of how you might react from other prescriptions you are taking, please contact your physician.
